No admission charge. A love offering will be received to help Pastor Carroll Martin Jr. of Amherst, pastor of Kingswood Baptist Church, Arrington, VA. Since 2003, Pastor Martin has experienced a number of challenges, both medical and personal, that would have defeated most people. As a servant of God, he still gives God praise and glory for being a good God.
2003: An airbag exploded and hit him in the side of the head, causing his brain to change shapes.
2009: A tick bite resulted in a case of Acute Ehrlichiosis, which nearly killed him.
2013: A large mass of black mold was discovered growing in his sinus cavity, which had been eating the bone and growing on the bone plate that separated his brain. To initially correct the problem, doctors performed a 5 1/2 hour surgery to clean out the mold. Since then, that procedure has been repeated over 70 times.
2020: COVID confined him to bed for 21 days.
2021: Weakness and shortness of breath led to a discovery of infection in his left lung caused by COVID.
In addition, two separate car crashes (he was not at fault) broke his L5 vertebrae twice, requiring therapy and rehab.
On top of that, Pastor Martin has dealt simultaneously with family crises of enormous consequence, including the death of his son.
Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Pre-concert music will be provided by Garden of Grace and friends starting at 5:15.
